Film dari Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie (2012) bersinopsis Enam belas tahun yang lalu, seorang ninja bertopeng misterius melepaskan makhluk kuat yang dikenal sebagai Rubah Iblis Ekor Sembilan di Desa Daun Tersembunyi Konoha, membunuh banyak orang. Sebagai tanggapan, Hokage Keempat Minato Namikaze dan istrinya Kushina Uzumaki, penjara hidup Rubah Iblis atau Jinchūriki, berhasil menyegel makhluk itu di dalam putra mereka yang baru lahir, Naruto Uzumaki. Dengan tersegelnya Monster Berekor, segalanya berjalan seperti biasa.
