Film dari What the Waters Left Behind (2017) bersinopsis Epecuén adalah salah satu desa wisata terpenting di Argentina. Ribuan orang setuju, tertarik dengan khasiat penyembuhan dari air panasnya. Pada tanggal 10 November 1985, volume air yang sangat besar merusak tanggul pelindung dan desa tersebut terendam air asin setinggi sepuluh meter. Epecuen menghilang. Tiga puluh tahun kemudian, air surut dan reruntuhan Epecuén muncul, memperlihatkan lanskap yang suram dan sepi. Penduduknya tidak pernah kembali. Plotnya berkisar pada sekelompok anak muda yang melakukan perjalanan ke reruntuhan untuk membuat film dokumenter tentang Epecuén. Mengabaikan peringatan tersebut, dan setelah tur singkat, mereka terdampar di desa yang ditinggalkan.
